Dulcoease® works by helping the stool absorb some of the body’s natural fluids, gently softening hard, dry stools and making the stool passage more comfortable. It doesn’t make you go, it just makes it easier to go.

How Dulcoease® works Quite simply, Dulcoease® works by softening your stools. Each capsule contains 100mg docusate sodium. This acts to increase the amount of water and salts absorbed by your stool by decreasing your stool's surface tension - making it softer and more comfortable to go to the toilet.
 

Dulcoease® is a soft gel capsule that can be taken orally 1 to 5 times a day. Dulcoease®. To soften hard, dry stools for a more comfortable way to go to the toilet. Contains docusate sodium.
